About a month after Visa’s European outage, Mastercard encountered a similar glitch that resulted in failed card payments overnight.
The four-hour long outage hit customers at multiple banks in the UK and US. Target Redcards which uses the payment giant’s backend also suffered from the outage.
Mastercard explained the predicament as: “A scheduled system update caused Mastercard transactions to be declined for a brief period of time earlier today. The situation has been resolved and all systems are working as normal.”
