British Airways data breach: 380,000 cards affected

British Airways revealed that hackers breached their website and app, compromising the card details of thousands of customers in the process.

Affecting bookings made between 21st August and 5 September, around 380,000 customers suffered credit card data loss.

During a BBC radio interview, Alex Cruz, CEO of British Airways explained the cyber-attack as “a very sophisticated, malicious criminal attack”, adding that it’s the worst breach since British Airways launched its website 20 years ago.

“We are extremely sorry for what has happened. We know it has caused concern to some of our customers,” Cruz told the BBC.
