Turkey-based Akbank’s facial recognition technology is reported to be widely popular, with 250,000 customers already using the feature to unlock their mobile banking app.

Claiming to be the first bank in Turkey to deploy facial recognition technology, the bank uses Daon’s IdentityX platform. The company uses NTT Data to deploy the IdentityX, with Visa and Mastercard incorporations.

Tom Grissen, CEO, Daon, “Nearly 250,000 of Akbank’s mobile banking users opted-in to use the facial recognition technology almost immediately. This is one of the fastest-growing user adoptions we have seen globally.”
